Shakeology Soft Serve Ice-cream!

Every once in a while, I get hit with a stroke of genius.

Remember when banana soft-serve was all the rage? Well I just took it a step further and created something freaking amazing - SHAKEOLOGY SOFT SERVE!


It's pretty simple: you put a frozen banana in the food processor and let it do it's thing for a minute or two. Once it gets to an ice cream'esque texture, add a scoop of shakeology and mix to combine. I also added a glug of unsweetened almond milk to let it whirl a little easier, but I'm not sure this is totally necessary. 

This stuff was totally awesome and tasted like a real treat. Kind of like a Wendy's frosty, but awesomer. Yes, I just said awesomer. You will understand when you try it.

3 Day Refresh - One week later!

Hey guys - just checking in quick to update you on the weight situation following the 3 Day Refresh.

Out of my total 5.6lbs loss, I've regained.... 1 lb!

I'm so pleased with this number, especially since my uterine lining is currently shedding.

I'm still not craving sweets, and I've continued to eat clean since with the exception of some spinach dip and an ice cream bar on Friday night.

Pretty proud of my progress. Not too shabby at all!

Sunday Funday!

My Sunday started out with some Jersey snuggles in bed. She sure does love her mom!


Then something kind of amazing happened...


I went to the gym! I've waited for this day for soooo long.

Before surgery, I didn't renew my annual membership as I didn't want to fork out the cash for a membership I couldn't use for quite some time. I won't be able to follow any of the Beachbody Programs for quite some time, so I decided to renew!

I did an incline walk on the treadmill and my physio exercises and it felt amazing. Absolutely frickin' amazing.

I'm quite confident I'll be out of my sling during the day this week, and will only have to sleep in that asshole. I'm kicking ass at physio, and I'm feeling better every single day.

Don't worry, I'm not doing too much too soon. I promise. I know what I'm capable of at this point!

I'm on cloud nine. Not much could wipe the smile off my face today. :)

3 Day Refresh - 2 Days Later

I thought it would be important to check back in to let you know how I'm doing 2 days post refresh. I think often what happens is that we focus on the "immediately after" as opposed to the long term results right?

Now I'm smart enough to know that the 5.6 lbs I lost was most likely water weight. I had a pretty good "OMG this is my last day of eating" so I'm actually pretty certain the food I ate the day before starting the Refresh actually equaled 5.6lbs.

Usually I stay away from the scale, but I've been curious to see how quickly I'd regain the weight.  I jumped on the scale this morning, and have only regained 0.4lbs since Tuesday morning!!

Interesting enough, I actually feel kind of amazing now that I've been able to increase my calories, carbs and add a little caffeine back into my life.

The cool part? My desire for a "treat" is completely non-existent. I'm not even shitting you.

You know that time of the day, it usually happens mid-afternoon, or late evening when you just want to inhale some oven s'mores? It just just exist for me right now. Weird right?

While losing a little bloat was fantastic, I would say the non-existent sugar cravings are quite easily the best part of the 3 Day Refresh - for me anyway. I'll check back on the weekend for an update on the weight situation.

3 Day Refresh - The Results

I survived!!

The 3 Day Refresh is over… woo hoo!

I’ll get straight to the point:

My stats:
I lost 5.6 lbs and 6 inches!

Now for the visual – I’m a little embarrassed at this one, because you can’t really notice ANY difference. That being said, I have a lot of loose skin as a result of previous weight loss so I’m chalking it up to that. Perhaps if I had a hard toned body, it might be more noticeable?



Now for the summary, good, bad and ugly style.

The Good:


  • This was my first ever cleanse, so I’m pretty proud that I was able to follow the program to a tee
  • I was worried about no coffee for 3 days but I actually felt ok energy wise. Only had a small headache on the evening of day #2
  •  The Vanilla Fresh shake was pretty tasty. I would just blend it with water, ice and cinnamon and it was actually enjoyable
  •  The dinner recipes with the program were all delicious!
  •  I never actually felt hungry.
  •   After it’s all said and done, I feel like my sugar cravings are completely gone and I definitely feel de-puffed.


The Bad:

  •  The Fibre Sweep kjnd of tasted like citrus-y ass. I learned from my pals who were a day ahead of me to simply mix and chug fast as it thickens up fast. I did that, and even with that technique it didn’t go over so well. Thank goodness it was only once a day.
  • My only real ‘craving’ during the 3 days was BBQed chicken legs. Weird right? I’m pretty excited to chew on some protein tonight.


The Ugly:

-          No coffee for 3 days
  • The mental aspect of not being able to eat what I want. I was having fantasies of licking melted chocolate off Derek Jeter’s abs, and gorging on cheese fat-kid style.
  • TMI warning:  despite being pretty regular in the number 2 department, I didn’t go at all until the evening of day #3. I found that kinda weird considering all I ate was fibre for 3 days
  •  And while we’re still under TMI alert: my farts could have peeled paint off the wall.


That’s pretty much it folks. While I’m disappointed in the lack of visual results in my photos… let’s be honest. It was only 3 days.

Let’s focus on the positive: I feel great, it didn’t kill me to do it and would totally do it again.

3 Day Refresh - Day #3

It is 7:03pm and I can say that I have successfully finished the 3 Day Refresh! I am (my computer keyboard has suddenly changed to French, so everytime I type the key for an apostrophe it looks like this: รจ) still in shock that I actually completed it. The word "cleanse" and I just don't jive.

Had to do a Google search on how to fix my keyboard - it's actually "control" on the left side and "shift" on the right side.

Started my first day back to work with a chocolate Shakeology with half a banana.


Mid morning - my nemesis. The fibre sweep. I'll write more on that tomorrow.

Lunch: peppers, hummus, blueberries and a Vanilla Fresh shake.


 Roadie snack on my way home: celery and almond butter.


Supper: Cucumber/tomato salad, and another vanilla fresh shake.

I was a little irritable today, but I'm not sure if I can chalk that up to the program or the fact I never sleep and went back to work today.

Other than that I'm feeling pretty stellar, not hungry, and a little less puffy.

I lost 1.2 lbs overnight for a total of 4 lbs thus far.

I will write a full recap tomorrow with my thoughts on the program, and of course my results! Jury is still out on if I'm actually going to post the before/after pics.

3 Day Refresh - Day #2

Another day bites the dust... and I'm happy to say I'm 2/3's of the way though!

I found day #1 to be most difficult mentally, so after breakfast I decided to take this Refresh on the road. I packed up all my stuff and headed to my cousin's house for the day. Having someone to chat with all day is a great was to distract your brain!

I also decided to treat myself to an unsweetened iced tea for the road... and an iced water. For some reason iced water out of a Starbucks cup tastes better, right?


Lunch was celery, almond butter, blueberries and the Vanilla fresh shake with some cinnamon.

 Snack was un-pictured carrots and hummus - I was too hungry to remember to snap a pic!

Dinner was steamed veg with coconut oil and another vanilla fresh shake.


So, how am I feeling? Honestly not a lot different. I had a bit of a headache last night and was a little sluggish but other than that I'm a-ok.

I did lose 2.8lbs after the first day, that's pretty cool.

No sugar cravings, but for some reason I can't get BBQ chicken out of my head. I know that I'll be having for dinner on Tuesday night!

It definitely helped being away from the house today, and having others around to keep me accountable.

I'm going back to work tomorrow, so I've got all my refresh food packed and ready to go. It will likely be much easier to not think about food. I've been out of the office for 5 weeks now. For sure I will be busy!

Going to call it a night. If I'm sleeping, I can't think about food. TTFN.
