3 Day Refresh - The Results

I survived!!

The 3 Day Refresh is over… woo hoo!

I’ll get straight to the point:

My stats:
I lost 5.6 lbs and 6 inches!

Now for the visual – I’m a little embarrassed at this one, because you can’t really notice ANY difference. That being said, I have a lot of loose skin as a result of previous weight loss so I’m chalking it up to that. Perhaps if I had a hard toned body, it might be more noticeable?



Now for the summary, good, bad and ugly style.

The Good:


  • This was my first ever cleanse, so I’m pretty proud that I was able to follow the program to a tee
  • I was worried about no coffee for 3 days but I actually felt ok energy wise. Only had a small headache on the evening of day #2
  •  The Vanilla Fresh shake was pretty tasty. I would just blend it with water, ice and cinnamon and it was actually enjoyable
  •  The dinner recipes with the program were all delicious!
  •  I never actually felt hungry.
  •   After it’s all said and done, I feel like my sugar cravings are completely gone and I definitely feel de-puffed.


The Bad:

  •  The Fibre Sweep kjnd of tasted like citrus-y ass. I learned from my pals who were a day ahead of me to simply mix and chug fast as it thickens up fast. I did that, and even with that technique it didn’t go over so well. Thank goodness it was only once a day.
  • My only real ‘craving’ during the 3 days was BBQed chicken legs. Weird right? I’m pretty excited to chew on some protein tonight.


The Ugly:

-          No coffee for 3 days
  • The mental aspect of not being able to eat what I want. I was having fantasies of licking melted chocolate off Derek Jeter’s abs, and gorging on cheese fat-kid style.
  • TMI warning:  despite being pretty regular in the number 2 department, I didn’t go at all until the evening of day #3. I found that kinda weird considering all I ate was fibre for 3 days
  •  And while we’re still under TMI alert: my farts could have peeled paint off the wall.


That’s pretty much it folks. While I’m disappointed in the lack of visual results in my photos… let’s be honest. It was only 3 days.

Let’s focus on the positive: I feel great, it didn’t kill me to do it and would totally do it again.

3 Day Refresh - Day #3

It is 7:03pm and I can say that I have successfully finished the 3 Day Refresh! I am (my computer keyboard has suddenly changed to French, so everytime I type the key for an apostrophe it looks like this: รจ) still in shock that I actually completed it. The word "cleanse" and I just don't jive.

Had to do a Google search on how to fix my keyboard - it's actually "control" on the left side and "shift" on the right side.

Started my first day back to work with a chocolate Shakeology with half a banana.


Mid morning - my nemesis. The fibre sweep. I'll write more on that tomorrow.

Lunch: peppers, hummus, blueberries and a Vanilla Fresh shake.


 Roadie snack on my way home: celery and almond butter.


Supper: Cucumber/tomato salad, and another vanilla fresh shake.

I was a little irritable today, but I'm not sure if I can chalk that up to the program or the fact I never sleep and went back to work today.

Other than that I'm feeling pretty stellar, not hungry, and a little less puffy.

I lost 1.2 lbs overnight for a total of 4 lbs thus far.

I will write a full recap tomorrow with my thoughts on the program, and of course my results! Jury is still out on if I'm actually going to post the before/after pics.

3 Day Refresh - Day #2

Another day bites the dust... and I'm happy to say I'm 2/3's of the way though!

I found day #1 to be most difficult mentally, so after breakfast I decided to take this Refresh on the road. I packed up all my stuff and headed to my cousin's house for the day. Having someone to chat with all day is a great was to distract your brain!

I also decided to treat myself to an unsweetened iced tea for the road... and an iced water. For some reason iced water out of a Starbucks cup tastes better, right?


Lunch was celery, almond butter, blueberries and the Vanilla fresh shake with some cinnamon.

 Snack was un-pictured carrots and hummus - I was too hungry to remember to snap a pic!

Dinner was steamed veg with coconut oil and another vanilla fresh shake.


So, how am I feeling? Honestly not a lot different. I had a bit of a headache last night and was a little sluggish but other than that I'm a-ok.

I did lose 2.8lbs after the first day, that's pretty cool.

No sugar cravings, but for some reason I can't get BBQ chicken out of my head. I know that I'll be having for dinner on Tuesday night!

It definitely helped being away from the house today, and having others around to keep me accountable.

I'm going back to work tomorrow, so I've got all my refresh food packed and ready to go. It will likely be much easier to not think about food. I've been out of the office for 5 weeks now. For sure I will be busy!

Going to call it a night. If I'm sleeping, I can't think about food. TTFN.

3 Day Refresh - Day # 1

Well I survived day #1 and it actually didn't suck too bad... in fact, it didn't really suck at all.

Started out the day by slamming some water and followed it up with a cherry Shakeology.

Next came something they call "fibre sweep". I heard horror stories about it getting clumpy and disgusting if you let it sit too long so I did the classy thing and CHUGGED it!

Lunch was a shake called "Vanilla Fresh". You have the option of blending your fruit serving into it, but I like to eat so I simply blended it with ice and cinnamon. It was actually kind of tasty! On the side were strawberries, red pepper, and hummus.


True test of will power: I spent the afternoon on a patio with my Aunt, Uncle and parents. ALL I ordered was water while they feasted and drank booze.


I arrived home and made my snack:  some celery and almond butter.


Supper was another Vanilla Fresh shake and a HUGE spinach salad.


I survived a day with zero coffee..  and didn't even attempt murder. I consider this a huge success.

I'm feeling fine, a little tired maybe but other than that I'm a-ok. I'm a little ummmm gassy, but I figure that's due to the insane amount of fibre I'm putting in my body today.

This is definitely more tough on me mentally than it is physically, but hey, now I can say I'm 1/3 of the way through. Score!

3 Day Refresh

Things are about to get crazy in here... look what arrived today:


It's the new 3 Day Refresh from Beachbody. What is it exactly? From the website:

3-Day Refresh is a straightforward 3-Day program to lose weight, get a clean break from bad nutrition habits and feel immediately cleaner, lighter and more healthy…without starving!

I am generally adverse to cleanses and "quick fixes", but I've been unable to work out for 5 weeks and my nutritional choices have not always been stellar. I'm going back to work on Monday and wouldn't  hate it if there were a few extra inches to spare in my clothing.

My friend did her 3 day refresh last week and had awesome results. What impressed me the most she said afterwards that she "Can't even think about eating sweets, the idea makes me sick". That is a direct quote! I kinda like the sounds of that.

Because why? 


I just chowed down on a Hagan Daas.

I decided I will blog my way through these 3 days, because misery loves company. And if I'm hangry and miserable? You're gonna hear about it.

I can do anything for 3 days, right? RIIIIIGHT?

My love affair.... with Netflix

I've been off work since June 11th. Do you know how hard it is to keep your mind occupied when you can't do any kind of exercise?

I've kind of developed a bit of an obsession with the documentary section on Netflix.

#transformationtuesday


I've been struggling lately.Like a lot. 

I found this picture last week, and suddenly I didn't feel that badly anymore. 

I'm not going to regain all of my weight in a few months of recovery. If I gain a few pounds back? It's not the end of the world. I know how to lose it when I'm ready.

Each day, I'm feeling a little bit better... I'm getting there. It's slow and painful, but I am seeing progress and that is reassuring.

I write these posts to myself often, but honestly? Sometimes I just need a reminder. It's amazing how therapeutic writing a few thoughts down can be.

All that to say? I'm getting there.
