Unforunate Events

I've had a series of unfortunate events occur in the last 48 hours.

In an attempt to make myself feel better, I got a manicure.

Only to ruin it within minutes of leaving the salon, on my middle finger to boot.

Something's gotta give right?

In the meantime: Fuck you life. You've dealt me enough crap of late, you're not going to get me down with a shitty manicure.

*Yes, I realize I have short stubby elf-like fingers*

Winter has arrived in the Nations Capital

I was a tad weirded out by the fact we had yet to receive any snow in Ottawa. I mean, even Vancouver had snow! Well, winter arrived yesterday.

I think I left my snow brush in my old car that I traded in, so I was left to channel my inner MacGyver and use the broom and my credit card to de-ice my car yesterday morning. Note to all you fellow Canadians who cannot locate your snow brush: letting your car warm up for 20 minutes, does not melt the ice/snow.

Thank you Mr. Broom. Job well done.

I woke up this morning to more snow. The first thought that went through my head: I don’t realllllllllly have to go to the gym.

The second thought that went through my head: There is a Starbucks right beside the gym. Workout = coffee afterwards.

So I confess, the only reason I went to the gym was to procure a coffee afterwards. But, the good news is I had a great workout at Body Attack and the coffee afterwards was heavenly.

I came home and made a salad in a glass.

Water, 1 Source yogurt, spinach, frozen strawberries/raspberries/mango and a squeeze of agave.

And a bowl of oats: 1/3 cup oats, 2/3 cup water, 1 chopped apple, vanilla and cinnamon. Toppings included: Walnuts, chocolate chippies, coconut and chia seeds.

In other news: Jersey is pretty depressed that winter is here. Doesn’t that look like a miserable dog?

Happy Saturday!

Today

Thingsthat are good about today:

  • I'm sore from my workout
  • It's Friday
  • I have leftover balsamic chicken for lunch
  • It's Friday
  • I'm looking forward to my workout tonight
  • I'm looking forward to relaxing tonight with some Breaking Bad
Things that are horrible today:

  • It's brutal outside. It froze rain all night. I think I left my snow brush in my old car when I traded it in, so I had to go all MaGuyver on my car using the broom and my credit card to de-ice it.
  • Said MaGuyver actions totally ruined my great hair day.
Things that made me smile today:

  • My little Jersey has become a mother to a stuffed Lambchops. She carries it all over the house, and cuddles it when she sleeps. Its really the cutest thing I've ever seen. Usually she destroys stuffed toys, but its pretty evident this little lamb has a special place in her doggie heart.

Rock Bottom

Hi Friends. Its certainly been a while, hasn't it?

Usually when I don't blog the reason is that I'm ashamed of my actions. I'd like to say this isn't the case, but guess what? It is.

I have had (and still do) a lot going on in my work and personal life, and usually I don't let this get in the way of my healthy living. But, sadly I did. There have been many nights of sloth, lots of tears shed, entire boxes of Kraft Dinner Spirals, BBQ chips, hot dogs and poutine from Costco, pizza, Harvey's burgers, Candy Cane Ice Cream.

Top it off with zero exercise, and that pretty much sums up the last 6 weeks of my life.

I didn't actually think it was that bad until I typed it out.

This my friends, is my rock bottom.

Rather then dwell on my lack of activity, and the number I saw on the scale I've decided enough is enough.

I know better.

I know how to treat my body.

...and this is not it.

I hit the gym last night. I procured some healthy food. I dusted off my food journal. I blow dried my hair, and put on a skirt.

I'm going to crawl out of this hole I'm in. That, I promise you.
