Usually today marks the day I give up chocolate for 40 days.
I've been on the fence about what to do this year.
The difference between this year and years past? I'm in a really good state of mind.
Giving up chocolate is usually my way of recommitting to disciplined eating that usually started on January 1st.
But you know what? This year, I haven't slacked off. Giving up chocolate will not help me succeed. I'm already kinda doing that.
No food restrictions this year.
Instead, my main focus to be more positive. I'm a bit of a Debbie Downer/Negative Nelly.
I will be a better wife, a better friend, a better colleague and strive to be an overall happier person and see the good things in life.
**preface - I'm Catholic but am not currently practicing. While participating in Lent can be viewed as somewhat hypocritical - that is not my intent.**

I'm a not practicing Catholic too, but still find lent a good time to reflex and make and effort for change. All the best over the next 40 days!
Good job Amy...I'm a practicing Catholic in the way that I pray every day and I try to bring up my kids with God in their lives, however I have NEVER gave up something for Lent....I just try and keep my heart full of God's Grace and love (not always easy) and probably explains my extra weight lol!
